I am kaleidoscopic with many interests (too many to cite), a few areas of expertise (mostly related to the performing arts - stage and screen) and one major love: the desire to communicate and share. This is my platform to reach out and touch you but mostly be touched by the similarities and emotional ties that we are blessed to have with one another as human beings. Welcome, enjoy and respond.

The Lady of the Camellias in French in New York City
April 14-25 2010
For the first time in New York City, a team of francophone actors will perform the new adaptation of “The Lady of the Camellias” by René de Ceccatty. More intimate and intense than the original play, this modern version was written in 2000 at the request of French movie star Isabelle Adjani. De Ceccatty takes his inspiration from the novel by Alexandre Dumas fils and focuses on the internal struggles of the characters.
Director Gérard Cherqui, who is the head of programs at the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, will give life to this mythical love story between a Parisian courtesan and a respectable young man. Cherqui usually specializes in contemporary work – his productions have been shown at the Petit-Odéon in Paris and the Antoine Vitez theater of Aix-en-Provence – but this time, he is reinterpreting a timeless classic.
The Lady of the Camelias is Marguerite Gautier, a 19th century socialite trying to change her life, a woman deeply in love who will be sacrificed for the sake of social conventions. “In these times in France, women could either be cocottes, bourgeois wives or aristocrats,” Cherqui says. “Marguerite’s opportunities are extremely limited: She is caught in a net.”
Nastasia Many, who performed regularly in New York (in both French and English) with Ubu Repertory Theater and Studio Dramatique, will take on this tragic role: “In spite of her extraordinary strength of character, destiny always seems to punish Marguerite,” she says. The diverse cast of actors comes from the United States, Belgium, France and Quebec.
The producer of the show, Nora Armani of Pemart Productions, has produced feature films presented in the official selections of Cannes and Rotterdam festivals and at London’s FIAF (Ciné Lumière), as well as plays performed at the Public Theater and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Two gala evenings on April 16 and 24 will benefit the Paul Chester Children’s Hope Foundation (PCCHF), which sends doctors to remote areas of the developing world. www.pcchf.org
